    Just a word of warning

Please be aware that they won't use photos which have copyrite on them (e.g. official wedding photos, school photos etc).

asda have photocakes in two sizes, and they also have them in white, chocolate or pink icing

you have to take a photo, not memory stick

sainsburys and tesco can add writing to the cake, whereas Asda cant

only if the picture is stamped with their company logo, or TM

if you scan the photo, and then print it off, the staff are none the wiser on who owns the copyright, espec as most photographers now sell you pics on disc for home printing

I have done this a couple of time now, There are various websites where you can email your photo and they will create an edible cake topping to your specificiations for about £8. Usually delivered within a couple of days. Then just take it to your local bakers and ask them to put it on a cake that they make for you, or use it to top one you make yourself. Simples! :D

    Worked a treat every time!

I love baking so I made my own - if you fancy it, you can buy just the image to put on top of your cake from ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290439855394&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT#ht_4962wt_930

I have done 4 photocakes my mum was so pleased she nearly cried - I bought round 7.5", but they also do a4, A5 and cupcake pictures - just email a photo and they'll send you your icing print.
  • Depending on what type of cake you're preferably after, I've done 2 or 3 now through Costco (obviously the down side is that you either have to be a member or know someone who is who's membership card you can borrow!) but their cakes are enough to feed 25-30+ and the picture came out really well. Icing and personalisation is also done for you and it looks really good (not to mention tastes yummy) once completed. I'd recommend placing your order in-store approx 3-4 days prior to the day you want to collect just to be on the safe side! My son's 2nd bday is coming up in 4 weeks and we're also expecting our second baby next week so we're holding a joint welcome/happy birthday party at the end of the month for around 25 people therefore costco is definitely where I'll be going for the cake as my son's chuggington mad so we want a photo of chuggington on top. Cost is around £20 (as my memory serves from January) but they don't go sparse on the icing (it's the soft, fluffy style) and the cake itself is about 4 inches thick with a choice of choc or vanilla sponge and fondant fillings to your specification. I highly recommend!!!!

If i was meant to be able to touch my toes then God would have put chocolate on the floor! :rotfl:

I wanted to post feedback after someone recommended an ebay seller earlier in this thread -

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Personalised-Edible-Photo-Cupcake-Topper-12-x-2-Round-/290450589354?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Uk_Crafts_Cake_Decorating_MJ&hash=item43a03446aa

I can second that recommendation. The toppers came out well and the seller herself is a very nice lady who went way beyond the call of duty to offer help and advice (I am not a very confident cook). Highly recommended.
