Where can i buy a photo cake?

My sister gets images printed on to iceing sheets occasionally at the local cake decorateing supplies shop. It is just an all in one printer with dye/food colouring replaceing the ink, scan the image and it prints it out. the kit costs about £100 depending on the all in one printer you buy.

Asda and co have rules regarding what they will print on a cake, no logos (copyright) and no nude photos includeing baby shots.

we had one done for our childrens Christening the year before last, we had it done at Asda, just make sure your photo is a really good one, mine was not great & it did obviously show on the cake! was still great though, photo was a bit blurry though, but that was down to the photographer (me!) & a crappy camera!

The larger Tesco store that I go to do them - they have a machine beside the bakery department.

I have had this done a few times, I would advise you to go as early in the day as possible though. The cakes they do it for tend to sell out very quickly and they also only have limited stock, they might hold one for you if you ask nicely!
I would also call the store first and check the machine is working and they have the ink / paper stuff in stock, you dont want to be rushing round on party day trying to get a cake printed! Believe me, its not fun!

Just be careful in the supermarket, i've had this happen at both tesco and asda before - they told me the cake'd be ready within an hour but it took 3 in both - i'm not sure why as its done by computer onto a slab of icing - but make sure you leave time is my advice - think they cost from £8 up to £20 for a large one dpeending on how many you are feeding

We got a lovely one for my ds first birthday from Asda. we still have the photo from the cake 3 years later as I couldn't bear to cut his face up !!

Depends on the size of the cake but from memory Tesco is around £8/9 and its a plenty big enough cake.

Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda all do them. Sainsburys has the best cake in my opinion.
Depending on the size of the cake it will vary the cost but they are all around the £8-£10 mark
