When would you try and sell?

I am hoping to move closer to my family - I own my place and still have some equity in the house. I will need to sell up in order to move back.

There is no rush - but sooner rather than later would be better.

When (and don't laugh here) do you think would be the best time to put the house on the market - Now, spring next year, just forget it?

Now for the next few months or in ten years time...
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
  • When the scramble for buying occurs... I predict this to be after a few months in a row of prices and sales figures being up... just when those that were waiting for rock bottom realise they've missed it!

Keep an eye on the figures and stats.

But remember if you're selling and buying then its swings and roundabouts (ish- depends on areas).

If you intend to live in the next house you buy for the foreseeable future, ie the next 5 years + then it doesn't matter when you move. No-one can tell where the housing market will be at next spring. If you want to move, go for it. We are.
I love giving home made gifts, which one of my children would you like? :D :A :D
  • This is true - just trying to pick the right time!!!! I know need a crystal ball - just though I would seek some other opinions - thanks for the feedback
