Stansted to Wembley

Hello people. I am going to the Carling Cup final on Sunday and was wondering does anyone have any discounts/offers/tips etc on travel on the stansted express to liverpool street or for the tube to wembley? At the min i think its something like £30 return on the stansted express, no idea about the tube.

Thanks

Big McGregor

You will find the tube on the way back from wembley is very very very very busy, it is normally best to pop in the pub near the stadium and have a beer for an hour then get the tube. (If your standing outside the pub like most people do just buy cans from the offy as much cheaper than the pub as he puts his prices up n match days)
  • i like the way you think:T
any excuse for a cheeky pint and im yer man!

im arriving at stansted at 10am, dropping bags into the Hilton at the airport (they do a courtesy bus so that should only take 10-15 mins to get to it and back) then heading into London. So im thinking we'll be London bound for about 11.00-11.30am. Will that give me enough time to get to lpool street and onto the tube if going by bus?

You could go by train all the way for £23.40 return using ordinary trains rather than the Stansted express, (day return Stansted Airport to Wembley Central). Takes under 2 hours.

With a day return you are ok regarding missing a train and getting a later one.

    Journey is:

    Stansted to Liverpool St
Liverpool St to Euston on the tube (included in rail ticket)
    Euston to Wembley Central

When you arrive at Wembley central turn right out of the station to find a Wetherspoons and drop in again on your return.

    .

Well actually that journey uses the Stansted Express - it's just that an off peak journey to a station beyond Liverpool Street is cheaper than a journey to Liverpool Street itself where there are no off peak fares.

Another fares loophole - and as they are walk on tickets totally legitimate.

It's long way round to go via Liverpool Street. Take the Victoria Line from Tottenham Hale to Euston.

The only possible drawback to that route is will the train ticket be accepted on the tube at Tottenham Hale station?

Sometimes when you use your through train ticket on a tube to get between mainline stations it is coded to only work at the stations on the "permitted route".

The route via Liverpool St is "tried and tested", but maybe someone knows if the ticket would let you use the tube from Tottenham Hale?

Tottenham Hale is a valid tube station for cross London travel

Get a cab to Broxborne, there's an open top bus going from there -

Chas & Dave blaring out all the way

Slow chorus of Oh When the Spurs, Jazz hands and all before the game

    Hat trick from Darren Bent

    Bring the cup back home

Ok the Darren Bent bit might be pushing it

    COME ON YOU SPURS :T

Edit - Obviously you must be Spurs as you are coming from Stansted and not Surrey!
