Westminister parking ticket help

Hi, I am writing this on behalf of my Fiance.

We have just got a letter through the post today (26th Feb 09) saying that he ows the full amount of £120 for a parking ticket! The notice says it was served on the 23rd Jan 09 at 11:43pm for parking in a suspended bay. We know this is not true as we triple checked that the bay was not suspended! We also did not receive a letter about the charge telling us to pay the reduced amount and suddenly today we get a letter telling us to pay the full amount, which makes it 34 days later!

Is this a fair ticket and if not how do we go about getting the ticket revoked?

Thank you

  • Scan/post all pieces of paper you have, both sides, and post them here. See the stickies for howto. Without seeing the paperwork noone can help.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • You need to contact the highway dept or whatever they are called and get copies of the order to suspend the bay with all relevant paperwork. You may need to submit a FOI request. The paperwork should reveal the application to suspend the bay and exactly when or if it was and the date workmen visited to put in place the necessary signage. Hopefully the paperwork will be full of discrepencies you can exploit.

    Just a quick update!

We got a letter back from the council letting us know that they have dropped the fine  . This is after we wrote them a letter with witness statements, clearly pointed out in the pictures that you can see that the bay was not suspended we also suspeced them of conning us, after seeing this http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/141549/TRAFFIC-WARDENS-FAKE-PHOTO-EVIDENCE.html , as the pictures were taken in exactly the same way.

Hope this helps any others. We have also made a formal complaint about this as they know the scam is going on but still trying to get money of of people who follow the law!
