Hi
Had you expressed an interest in redundancy back in October 2008?
if the answer is no then I am not sure what your gripe is really, they asked for voluntary redundancys back in Oct 08, some 4 months ago and now you have said you would like to apply.
Reading between the lines it seems you have found a job, and would like to take advantage of leaving with a sum of money for redundancy as well as taking up your new post.
If this is the case then I don't think you have any recourse other than to hand your notice in as required by your contract and move on with no hard feelings to your new position.2007 £1749
2008 £291.99
2009 JanMasscara £7.00 Feb megcabot books x 2 £20 XFactor tkts x 2 £58.00 (couldn't go though as they only phoned on day :-( ) foundation £7.99
total so far for 09 £92.990 -
im not sure you can argue it to be honest
i took voluntary redundancy a couple a years ago and i know a few still there who regret not taking it and cant do nothing about it.
sorry0 -
Totally agree with dispy.
If thats the case get the job offer in writing, hand in your notice, take any holiday owed as timeoff & chill. Not Again0 -
thanks guys, but the problem is they never announced that they have stopped giving redundancies. surely by law they need to tell everyone that the redundancies have stopped, if i knew that i would of been fine and not stressing out and looking for a job.0

could you just stay at the job you are in? there may be redundancys in the future , and if you go to this other job whats to say you will have that job very long, i would hang on in there for a while ..and there is nothing wrong with wanting a pay out and taking another job i would have done the same ....especially in the current economic climate , hold on love you may get another chance at redundancy x good luck (they would have let you know when they were asking voluntary how long you had to apply)hi all

for the past 4 months i pressumed the voluntary redundancy was still open,no date when to apply, no letter issued to state it has been closed. no cumminaction from maganement.0

You've found another job, so do what everyone else does in the same situation - hand your notice in."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

The thing about voluntary redundamcy is that its voluntary the company doesnt have to offer it and can withdraw the offer at any time prior to you accepting the offer.0

as above....just because it was offered to the company doesnt mean you have a right to get it anyway... they could just have said no to you at the time.0
