Laminated floors

Then you put the surround back and repaint. But they don't mention that in the leaflets!
You could undercut the door jambs to the correct height - dead easy to do....
Use an offcut of laminate a scrap piece of underlay and a sharp saw. On the bare floor, put the underlay scrap down, put the flooring offcut down and then undercut the jamb resting the saw hard down horizontally on the scrap flooring.
Knock out the resulting 'tongue' that's left with a chisel and you're left with a gap that you can slide your laminate under, and it's a perfect fit around the frame.... in theory you could do it for all the skirtings that way, but that's a bit of a rod for your own back.NastyMatt wrote:The joiners are good if you want to change the direction of the laminate between rooms.
A sure fire way to make the job look bodged (that was the cleaned up version) is to have a horizontal patch meet a vertical patch though. There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -
If you have a choice.......always go for Quickstep, whether it be 700, 800 or 950.
havent fitted all brands, IMO it is by far the best!
As previos post says, undercut doors, dont remove architive, and where possible always plan where you start and finish and what direction will not only look the best, but enable you to make doorways easier!0 -
Quick Step is a very good brand of laminate, has the thickness and very easy to lay down. Laminate is fine in kitchens too, just make sure the boards are damp treated, they will be green in colour....Mortgage Free Wannabe Light Bulb Moment (Early 2012, started May 2012)
