Can anyone help with a holiday?

Am looking to go on holiday in the April half term (April the 6th onwards)

There is myself, my husband and my two children (2&4 years old)

We have a budget of about £200 and would like to stay at least 3 nights preferably a week if possible.

We are in east sussex but willing to travel about 2 hours so can go as far as cornwall or upwards towards surrey, hampshire way.

Anyone have any ideas of where is cheap? Or places that give you a price per room rather than per person??

Any help would be gratefully received. Thankyou in advance.x

  • Doubt you'll get from East Sussex to Cornwall in 2 hours! I drove from Brighton to Portsmouth and it took an hour.

Have a look at Travelodge Saver rooms, you might get them for £29 a night.

You could try having a look at the parkdean site. We got a week August bank Holiday at the Lizard Cornwall for under £300 for four of us. bargain ????

Any more sites i would be very grateful for. thankyou.x
  • If I were you I would forget this country and drive over to France.

Look at Keycamp, Canvas, Matthews, Eurocamp, Siblu (they take tesco deals) etc for inspiration. A ferry crossing from Dover to Calais is included in the base price.

You will get much better value for money. English campsites can be cheap but once you get there they will fleece you for every penny you have. (they will shamelessly use your children too). It is brave parents that can say no to all the onsite entertainment.

Look up France on the holidays thread. You will see it is very popular.
  • We run an AA small 3* hotel and at the moment we would take a family like yours with young children for £200 for 3 nights B+B. I would check out sites like lastminute.com or active hotels.com. Alternatively, find somewhere you would like to stay and telephone the hotels direct tell them that you only have £200 to spend and see what replies you get. It may be that they ask you to arrive on a Specific day depending on their usual business. If you find a deal on the internet then contact the hotel and get them to match it - it will save the hotel commission.

The generally offer a Double room or Family room, the Family rooms have a pull out sofa bed type thing.

Thanks again for replies. Unfortunatly cant do france as only one of us has a passport so would mean 3 new passports at roughly £60 each which we havent got to spend on top of the price of a holiday.

Thankyou for the tips on trying to steer clear of on camp items like food, etc + phoning the hotels direct, will def try this before booking anywhere. Do oyu think haven and all those sort of places would lower prices if you phoned up??

Also thanks dave for the explanation of the family room, think i would rather sleep on a proper bed so guess that counts that one out! Still have other ideas now so all is helping so any more info or other places to stay keep it coming :)

In a double room, you get a double bed (TV, bathroom, Kettle)
A Family room is the same but you also get a pull out sofa bed.

    And they cost the same
