Am I on a super cheap tarriff?
Hi guys, about May / June time last year I fixed my Duel Fuel on Martins advice with Scottish power...
I know they went up again a bit after that so I was happy I had fixed, but now they have come down (BG anyway) a bit thought I better check if it was time to switch again (and earn some cashback).
Just been on Money Supermarket and saw the cost of BG's "Web Saver 2"
Gas is:
6.5562p up to Up to 2680Kwh
and then 3.1763p
Elec is:
22.3829p up to 500Kwh
and then 10.4349p
In comparison my current tariff is:
Gas:
2.660p up to 1454 Kwh
and then 3.908p
Elec is:
8.869p up to 279Kwh
and then 15.939p
Now the bottom figures are taken from my bill so don't include VAT, the top ones will include VAT....
Even so my current tariff still seems very cheap.... am I missing something or did prices really go up so much last year?

BG raised their gas by 35% last year, and electric by 9%. Are you sure you haven't got your tiers round the wrong way though?0

assuming your SP tiers are the wrong way round - I make your SP pricing around 28% cheaper0

BG raised their gas by 35% last year, ...
Actually that was just the mid year increase. They also increased gas prices by 15% in January 2008, representing a total annual increase of 55.25%"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Yes you are on a cheap tariff, however you have your SP tiers the wrong way round, and your talking about the number of kwhs charged on one sp bill, and comparing it with the annual amount charged with BG. quarterly bg only charge the higher rate for the first 670 kwh gas, and 125 kWh elec.Sunny in Southampton.0

Cheers for the answers guys, and yes I did mess up with the tiers the wrong way round....
Thanks
Just checked the proper pricing:
ELEC:
Supply Area Code: 14
Supply Area: Midlands
Meter Type: Single Rate
First 225 Kwh used per quarter (Ex VAT): 15.939p
Remaining Kwh (Ex VAT): 8.869p
First 225 Kwh used per quarter (Inc VAT):16.736p
Remaining Kwh (Inc VAT):9.312p
GAS:
Supply Area Code: 14
Supply Area: Midlands
First 1143kWh used each quarter (Ex VAT): 3.908p
Remaining Kwh per quarter (Ex VAT): 2.660p
First 1143kWh used each quarter (Inc VAT):4.103p
Remaining Kwh per quarter (Inc VAT)2.793p
Looks like i'll be staying put for a good while yet then...0
