    thanks sloppychops and saveapenny,

    these prices sound quite good.

am hoping to travel on 7 or 8 of april for 7 nights.
probably just for 2 adults, but would ideally like to take the kids too , but having 5 of them......think its gonna be just a touch expensive!! :grinheart

would like to visit agadir someday, but am looking for marrakech or essaoiura as we are hoping to buy a holiday property or land some time soon,
    all advice very greatfully received

    thanks, aliyah

I've just come back tonight. I flew to Malaga very cheaply, then a bus to Algeciras (about 10 Euros) and a ferry to Tangier (36 Euros). From there there's an excellent overnight train 1st class air-con with couchettes (290dh uder 20 pounds) to Marrakech. http://www.oncf.ma/ (in French horaire is timetables and tarif fares). Unfortunately you can't book that from the UK so you'd have to take your chances, you can book in advance once you're there for the return - there is only one couchette carriage but there are lots of seats in the conventional train if they are all booked. I'd thoroughly recommend Hotel Toulousain http://www.geocities.com/hotel_toulousain/indexie.html (doubles with en suite 190dh - about 12 pounds a night - plus 70dh for an extra bed) including a good breakfast. It's fairly basic but very clean and well run. This is a bargain for Marrakech where you can pay a lot more for a lot worse. There's an excellent Italian almost next door. It's in the new town but very convenient. Bus 1 or 16 (every few minutes) will take you to Place Djemm el-Fna where it all happens for 3dh each way. Marrakech is a wonderful place for a few days - just avoid the hassle with 'guides' and haggle hard in the medina.

This is a very useful site http://www.triotours.com/faq/ma/index.htm and I also recommend the Lonely planet guide to Morocco.

A good day out from the madness of Marrakech is to Setti Fatma a village in the mountains about 60km south. It is 25dh a person in a grand taxi (a shared taxi). These run to a fixed route like buses and leave when full from a place near Bab er Rob outside the town. They are a bit of a squash as they take 6 people in an ordinary Mercedes - 4 in the back and 2 next to the driver but you can buy all the seats and have one for yourself (25dh per person). You will have to get a petit taxi to there ask the driver to drop you for the taxis to Setti Fatma and insist he uses the meter. In Setti Fatma refuse all offers of guides to the waterfall (hardly worth it) and just head on through the village, the road turns into a track and continues down a very pretty valley. At the end it zig zags up the side of the mountain - if you go up a bit there's a lovely view into the valley.

Hope you get there and enjoy yourself.

You could look at https://www.atlasblue.com that fly out of Gatwick to Marrakech.
Flying out on the 9th of April, returning on the15th would cost £278.10 per person.

Another alternative is to fly to Gibraltar via Luton with Monarch and then follow an earlier post and take the ferry across the Med. Flying there and back on the Saturday inc taxes is £173.57
