Tiscali home phone compared to BT; Override numbers

1 Can someone say if there are any disadvantages, or advantages, to a Tiscali home phone using a Tiscali line (with their broadband package), compared to BT. I have always thought there were advantages to a BT landline, but I have never actually known what the advantage is.
2 Are there some things you can only do if you have a BT line or some services which you need a BT line to access?
3. Also, can you use override numbers, like 18185, with Tiscali?
