Hi,

Have a serious problem with NPower. I moved into my propery on 26th June last year. Went with EDF energy on that same day. A couple of days leter I get a bill from NPower for £165. Called them, and advised that I had just moved in, and I have switched to [STRIKE]NPower[/STRIKE] EDF, as had no details of who the energy supplier was, couldnt contact to close down. They say ok, EDF will take supply over. Fine.....I thought.

Since then we have had umpteen letters from them about electricity bills, debt collectors blah blah blah. I have spoken to a debt collector who came to my house, and showed him my tennancy agreement, and bills from EDF from the time I moved in. He was happy with that, took a meter reading and his records showed 4,000 units more than my meter showed  by this time, I am paying EDF, but still getting bills from NPower and the ammount has gone up to £365. This has gone on for months. Everytime I speak to NPower, its a different story, and they promise to close it down, which they dont.

Just today had a letter off them saying they are coming to cut my electricity supply off. Ive contacted EDF and they say they cant as im not with them, but its still a bit worrying (I know I shouldnt give in to bully boy tactics). So I have written to NPower and EDF and Watchdog and CAB and Ombudsman.

Will this ever get sorted out
I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:

If you changed supplier when you moved in it can take 6 weeks so you will be charged by the first company until that takes place.

If they are threatening to cut you off it sounds like they think they still supply you. Check the bills from both company and confirm that they have both billed you on the same meter and Meter point reference number. If you can't see this on your bill ring them to check.

If the reads are that far out and it is the same meter your current supplier needs to raise a dispute with the previous one. Have any bills been estimated? You will be asked to take 2 sets of reads 7 days apart. They can then estimate your reads for the time you changed suppliers.
