Does anybody else have a nightmare with 3 the mobile phone network?
The reception is rubbish, and the customer service department just fob you off with random suggestions on how to fix the problem by changing settings on your phone. Even in Manchester centre my phone cuts out on calls and reception goes up and down constantly. After trying everything else they suggest that you book your phone in for repair, but don't even give you a replacement whilst you are without your phone for up to 7 days!!!
I've had my contract for 7 months, and have 1100 minutes of calls per month. In that time I've only managed to use about 900 minutes as I end up calling people back off a landline instead which again costs more money.
After tons of phone calls, each lasting upwards of 20 minutes to an 0870 number I eventually asked them just to cancel the contract as I am unable to use the phone at all. They told me that their is a cancellation fee of £250 for privilege of cancelling something that doesn't even work!
Please steer well clear of these cowboys and don't be tempted by their cheap prices to pull you in, you'll end up pulling your hair out.

My boyfriend and I both had 3 mobiles and three mobile broadband, all were awful!
About 10 months into by 18 month contract my reception was so bad that my phone never rang, when someone called it just went straight to voicemail and half the time I couldn't get a decent enough signal to listen to the message, I hadn't moved house or anything it just suddly got really bad and calling them never got me anywhere, same rubbish solutions as you. I ended up dropping my price plan to the lowest/month after 12 months and just paying off the contract and getting an Orange mobile.
The mobile broadband worked fantastically for a month and then was pretty much unuseable and customer service useless, we ended doing the same with that, dropping to the lowest tariff nad paying it off and handed over £125 to BT for a phone line then got smoe proper broadband, a lot more expensive but definitely better for my sanity.
No matter how good the deals look I will never go near 3 again.0 -
if you look on the mobiles forum you will find a very interesting read about orange and lack of signal0

A man recently sucessfully sued orange as their signal at his home and work was poor, the court awarded in his favour0

I know how annoying this is... I am not defending Three and I certainly don't work for them, but sometimes... just sometimes it is the actual phone which causes the problem. When I first joined Three... roughly 4-5 years ago, my first phone was a Motorola A1000, far way ahead of it's time and it played up something chronic, after the contract ran out I tempted fate again and went back to a Nokia phone and had the N70. Reception was amazing, worked pretty much everywhere. I live in the countryside so I was impressed. Ever since I've always had Nokia phones and I've not had many problems, except for the odd area which is typical to loose reception; dips and caves etc. Normally these signal drop out are due to bad areas; dips, caves, valleys; national drop outs *cough* Vodafone *cough* and shoddy firmware on the phone.0

Thanks for your comments guys, I'd be interested to find out more about the guy who sued Orange and won - have a mind to do the same with Three.
thanks also Studeoeng but I just don't think somehow that it is the phone. I've tried my sim in several other people's 3 phones and it just doesn't work, and neither do theirs.
Regarding down grading, they obviously found that so many people were doing this that they now charge you for the privilege! I can't remember if they said £20 or £25, but I can only save £6 a month, so wouldn't benefit for at least 4 months anyway.
The worst thing about the whole situation is though that they expect you to do without your phone whilst it is sent for repair, no replacement, no reduction in tarif for the inconvenience, nothing.
Could other people please leave their comments here about 3 so I can show them the damage that is being done to their reputation by not allowing me to cancel a contract for a service which is non existent. It would be much appreciated if you could please!
Thanks in advance0
