Come on Tom, are you back off holiday yet? We need an update!!!
:j :j0 -
On the last day before holiday I offered £84K. A few hours later that was rejected but the EA said that the vendor would accept £86,500. I said yes providing that the fridge, washing machine and carpets were included. Vendor was happy with that.
The solicitor has started the legal process - documents have been sent, the EA has sent me an official letter stating that the property is in the process of being sold to me, but that a better offer could be accepted by the vendor in the intervening period.
I've got a 4.4% 2 year fixed rate repayment mortgage with overpayment facility lined up. £10K deposit sorted. Friends ready to help spend a weekend painting and cleaning.
Whilst I was on holiday I had a few dreams worrying about whether I've done the right thing, but I am confident that it's a good plan. Location relative to work, to shops, to railway station, not near busy road, quiet area, cheap to run, in good structural condition etc etc, all looking good to me. I can afford to overpay by a significant margin, so I can get the mortgage down to 10-12 year period.
Yes, I'm pretty chuffed with it all.Happy chappy0 -
