    Thanks for that.

    A couple of comments.

Firstly your figures surely only apply to your area? They vary in the 10 regions with the ratio between E7, Tier1 and Tier 2 changing. As an example whilst you are correct that with E7 Click6 was marginally better than Click5, in a couple of areas Click 5 had a slight advantage.

Historically the 'break even' point for E7 was 20-30% and only with the advent of the newer on-line tariffs did the break even point soar to 60+%. It looks like Websaver 2 is reversing that trend.

Also of course the main advantage of E7 is for storage heating and then people will be using many times more than the national average of 3,300kWh. Without storage heating(and having gas/oil CH) it really is difficult to get up to 30% E7 usage.

The dilemma people face is to get rid of E7 or not(bearing in mind that some companies charge for the new meters) When the break even point was 20-30% it was a 'no brainer' to be on E7 with storage heating.

When it rose to 60% or so, some people(even with storage heating) couldn't make E7 pay. So the ripped out the unpopular storage heaters and had 'normal' heating on a standard on-line tariff. Now Websaver2 makes storage heating an economic proposition again.

I believe all the old fixed tariffs of BG are cheaper are they not? - 2009(2 versions) 2010 and 2011.

so websaver1 has already been replaced by websaver2? after what, just a few weeks?

why dont BG just have one tarriff? stop people gambling on whether prices will go up or down, changing tarriffs every month because a new tarriff comes in etc

when the prices change up or down, you get the new price automatically.

why should you pay significantly more for your power because you dont have a computer/internet? why not just charge the cost of a stamp/envelope? this clearly burdens the elderly, rural districts and the poor.

No customer is getting a better deal out of British Gas than has been offered by BG. But a lot of people will be getting a worse deal than they could, because either they just don't know its available, have no internet access, or have been utterly confused by the pricing plans.

To me, that's not an ethical business.

    This industry needs regulation.

what is hard to fathom is that there are BG people, sitting in a conference room somewhere, devising these pricing plans to be intentionally obtuse.
    rant off
