Looking for Life Insurance!! Help not sure what I need!

Hi any advise would be greatly appreciated, I am 40yrs old and non smoker and have four children and would like to take out some life insurance. I do not have a mortgage as my husband is in the armed forces and he does not require insurance as he is covered thourgh the army. I dont have alot to spend on this a month but someone has said I should try and get a policy which gives some sort of a payout after the term is up and if i am still living does anyone know any information about life insurance policies which offer this kind of thing?
