Hmm, I got an email with an offer of 7.92% recently. I'm guessing that if I rang up they wouldn't offer me the lower rate? Does anyone have a code that I could try?

It's got to be worth a try? Just say I have heard of the 3.94% offer and am after that. If not, the 7.92% offer is not that bad, and better then the advertised 8.9% which is their lowest rate - infact iive been on an Halifax 7.92% for a few years now.

Make sure you speak to the loyalty department, as these guys have the power to make things happen - not the customer service plebs. Let us know how you get on.

As I called loyalty yesterday, the offer was 4.95% LoB with 3% fee.

I had the same letter but mine was 1% for 9 months or 3.94% for the life of the balance.

I've always found Halifax pretty good for sending out deals like this and I already have a large amount on my card already from a previous 5.9% LOB transfer.

I have an Egg Money CC which actively encourages you to have a postive balance by offering 4% interest. Do you think I would be able to pay into that card with a LOB transfer from Halifax?
Not considering doing it immediately as I have 0% until July with Halifax, but if they offer me a good LOB rate after that, it could prove useful to me, and by paying it onto the Egg Money I could then transfer it to my current account :)

£5850 in the rainy day fund - target £9000
£575 in OH 40th BDay Account - target £5000 by April 2013
  • Well, I just finished juggling all my debts so they are now on the 3.94% LOB deal and I have £7300 to pay off. Have also set up a second DD to pay extra off and have put all the money that I was paying off (around £165) in here. I will be increasing this as I pay off the 0% debt I have and my very short term deal and it will all go towards the Halifax debt. Will be good to see this debt decrease over time and be debt free for the first time since leaving school!!

I called them yesterday and was offered 4.94% for the life of the balance with a 3% fee. They let me transfer it to my Egg Money card.

    Hi All.

Now the main reason for this post is not just to gloat at what I think is the best life time APR I have ever heard of or seen but to sugest the following.

    J.

Really good offer, and maybe a sign of better things to come (at long last) for those not able to stooze due to previously accumulated debts.

There were much better offers in the "good old days", such as the famous Barclaycard 0% for life of balance transfer offer ( £5k limit),with a monthly £1 spend (upped from 50p!), which was extremely popular amongst early MSE posters.
When they eventually realised their faux pas, they moved to a 2.9% L.O.B. with no spend, where my car loan is still at. ;)

Just rang halifax to get a new card and they offered my this deal. The 3.94% lob and 0% on purchases until 31st July.

Could someone tell me what the interest will be monthly on a 1200 debt @ 3.94% apr?
