Also note before buying, these run off AA batteries rather than rechargeable lithium ones. That is good for when your abroad.

Um, why? Better to have rechargeable and an adapter ideally surely?
  • AA batts are generally more easily available.

I have used the same Uniross (green/silver, higher ampage than most?) ones for several years.

  • That will most likely be a horrible, horrible camera. Go for the cheap Canon in Argos rather than this. Buying a camera purely because it's 9mp marks you out as a chump

Does anyone know the model number of the camera? I will try and search for a review on it. As mentioned previously there are other factors to consider than megapixels or pixies as my Dad calls them! However, ALDI generally do good quality items and if you are looking for a budget camera then this may be worth considering.

IMO opinion a better budget camera would be the 5MP canon in argos for £50. Unless you want to enlarge your pictures bigger than A4 there is no need for any more pixels.

We own two Canon Cameras an ixus 950 and an EOS 30D. We recently bought our 4yr old son a budget camera of his own to use - a nondescript make and it is brilliant for what we wanted him to be able to do with it and it saves our expensive cameras being damaged in the process.

We spent time reading reviews and comparing various models (some much more expensive) we ended up with the one we have.

My point is if we can find out the model number we can all read some reviews and the people who are interested in this camera can make up their own minds. I realise that some people think that the one in Argos is better but I always make sure that I have as mant facts in front of me as I can before making a decision.

So, if anyone knows the model number let me know and I'll see if I can find anything out there on it. There are some really good review sites on the net. You never know you might actually like it!

As i said before megapixels mean nothing but i have to say my son in law bought an aldi traveler 3 years ago and the pictures were very good,But the best camera i ever had was one of those mispriced kodaks years ago cost £100 they were supposed to be £300 looked like a cheapo throw away £5 camera but every photo i took was excellent,I now have a £200 panasonic fz8 and i have to take a few of each to make sure some are ok.

It's not camera snobbery, but common sense. Throwing more mega-pixels into the same sized sensor chip means you'll end up with a noisier image, rather than a sharper more detailed one. Sure, it'll be fine when lighting conditions are ideal, but in low light it will be very noisy.

I just don't get why anyone would buy an unknown un-reviewed camera, when for the same price you can get a camera which reviews very nicely (for the price) (http://www.cameras.co.uk/reviews/canon-powershot-a470.cfm and http://www.digitalcamerareview.com/default.asp?newsID=3380&review=Canon+Powershot+A470). It just defies common sense and is inverse snobbery
