If he were honest, he'd advise us never to vote for him again.

I think Graham made a good point about the internet. I can't say I took much notice of previous recessions, but now with the internet I am far more nervous about it all - started saving up a little stockpile, planting veggies in the garden and deffo curbing my spending. I'm sure a lot of other people are doing this too and if we are all holding on to our pennies we possibly are making the recession worse

The world keeps turning, people keep moving and commerce continues the way it has for hundreds of years. The end of the world is nigh? nope, just another downturn into the cyclical life cycle of capitalism. Whats different this time is GLOBALISATION and the MEDIA reporting of events. Interest rates will rise, house prices will go up again and new jobs will be created. When, where and how nobody exactly knows...back of 2011 is my guess.
My advice to you all, pay off your mortgage and avoid needless debt. All you need is your health and friends in this life, both are free and both are priceless!0 -
I think this is going to be a mighty whopper of a recession . And not just the ordinary run-of-the-mill type of recessions that we usually have.
When Brown promised no more boom and busts he meant no more ordinary busts. He never said anything about busts the size of Pamela PeaksKrusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:
"Buy now because house prices only ever go UP, UP, UP."0 -
Nice sentiment but actually I also need an income.fireflower76 wrote: »All you need is your health and friends in this life, both are free and both are priceless!0 -

First female Nobel Prize winner for physics. Won in either 1996 or 1997 I believe. Although I disagree with some of her work on the Lorentz transformation on Earth's drift through a luminiferous ether, I can't help but be in awe of most of her theories.
Her early work on blackbody forward radiation and the anomalies in the specific heats of quantum solids is particulary revolutionary.0 -
Every time we get a bubble, we get people telling us it's a bubble, and others saying it's different this time - well the next time I invest in something and people say it's a bubble, please tell me to pull out of the investment (I'm talking dot. com in particular).
Just wish I'd listened!
