help with bank charges

my daughter signed up with barclays, whilst filling in her form she stated that she did not want an overdraft she was persuaded to have a £10 limit, unfortunately when her paperwork arrived she was not aware that a reserve of £150 had been added.
She went to Australia for a few months, she was expecting money to be put into her account by a previous employer so when she handed over her card and it was excepted she was sure she had been paid.
She had no way of checking her balance it was only when she went to get cash out it said insufficient funds she realised there may be a problem.
I opened her post and found that two payments amounting to under £300 had been paid out.
She asked me to contact the bank to explain that she was not in the country and had not intended to go overdrawn it was a mistake thinking that her wages had been paid in.
I contacted the branch and telephoned who told me to get her to phone them which she did, when she did they asked her to phone back.
This is not easy when you are backpacking.
The day after her return she made an appointment with a personal banker to discuss the situation and how it could be sorted out.
They were completely unhelpful and have demanded she pay £10 per week or they will come and take her belongings ( which isn't much as she lives with me, she has just signed up for social security payments which start next week)
The charges are £22 per time and her debt is now £423.32, have you any advice as to what to do.
The overdraft of £10 I would have thought is an indication as to how she wanted to run her account, she has never been in debt before and is very upset about it.
Many Thanks
