Caravans

I am new to posting so I apologise if I have put this in the wrong forum.
I have just bought a caravan and now need to buy all the essentials to get going, gas bottles, small electric heater, travel kettle, Waste Hog, water carrier, cover for caravan, perhaps an awning .... pretty much just the essentials at the moment.
Wondered if anyone who knows about caravans could point in right direction to hopefully get a good deal and not pay over the odds.

You could try freecycle or look for small ads in shop windows and supermarkets.0

Hiya, you might find this site useful :
http://www.ukcampsites.co.uk/
Its a great site, anything you need to know there will be someone there who has the answer
Edit : Go to the message boards part and you will also get site info, etc0 -
Try https://www.touringandtenting.com, they have lots of links and a good forum too.0

Take a look at the 'Preloved' web-site, usually a good start for buying second hand.http://www.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-channel.default/sec-Health+and+Leisure/cat-Caravans+and+Camping/d094353f.html Other than that try Towsure, Riversway leisure, the most expensive places are usually caravan dealers, unless you can negotiate a 'starters package'.
Don't make the mistake of going out to buy everything at once, a lot of things from home can be used initially, then you buy other items as and when!0 -
where are you ? hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

most of the stuff you need you will be able to find at bootfairs,
as has been said you can use most of your household items for now so concentrate on
wheelclamp/hitchlock should be about £10-£20
gas bottle(calor) £5 empty £15 fullish
bulldog stabiliser or similar £15-£25
mains hook up lead £10-£15
waste bottle max £5
auqua roll with handle £10 ish
remember to soak the fresh water aquaroll with 'milton'sterilising tabs and soak and flush the caravan cold water system as well,
it is better to have 2 aquarolls 1 marked for waste to save carryingI

I have never used a cover for my caravan, some say it interferes with the ventilation.

Thank you everyone, there are some really useful tips here. :T
I have since looked at Towsure's site (I am based in Sheffield) but they are charging a fair amount more than the caravan dealer (Sheffield Caravans) say £10 more for an Aquaroll water carrier identical product size etc and a few quid extra for the waste hog (if that is what it is called) so I think I will get the absolute essentials from there.
Like a couple have mentioned I have things I can use from home and have some little bits I bought last year when I went out in tent.
Will I need two water carriers then? Someone has mentioned marking one waste so I am not sure what that means as we were thinking we buy the waste hog and we buy a water carrier for clean water use? Apologies if I appear dim!!!0 -
What the previous poster means is, you need a fresh water carrier, and a waste water carrier, which can be of any design, but if it is the same as your fresh water carrier it needs to be marked,so it dosen't get mixed up!0

Sometimes you can pick up a calor gas bottle from your local tip, they are usually kept separately, just try asking for one, then getting a refill from a local supplier. We dont use sleeping bags, and find that duvets are much more comfortable.
Many caravan dealers have second hand departments. Like previous advice, you will need a security device:
wheel clamp/hitchlock or both,
mains cable
gas bottle
waste and fresh water carriers
leisure battery
stabilser system(dependant on caravan hitch)0
