Pay by credit card for protection, or use insurance?

I am about to pay the balance for a holiday in Scotland, for which there will be a fee if I pay by credit card (which always irritates me, but still!) I had decided not to pay by credit card because of this fee, but reading posts in this forum it seems that you have more protection with a credit card payment if the holiday company goes bust then you do through the holiday insurance. Is this correct?
The holiday insurance I am planning on taking out is just a single trip one for 2 people, which covers most things but I am not sure it will pay out if the holiday company goes toes up.
So: is it a better idea to pay by my credit card?
(NB I have booked scheduled flights HR to Glasgow already on my credit card).

The majority of Travel Policies do not cover financial failure of your accomadation provider eg hotel, so if you are taking out travel insurance you will need to ensure it does include cover if you want to rely on your travel insurance0

Thanks, that's what I am beginning to realise. I think I will just have to swallow the credit card payment fee.0 -

Not quite!
You can pay anything, (even £1), on your CC and you will be covered for the total cost under Section 75.
See WHICH as example. "However, you don’t have to have paid the full amount on your credit card – the card company is liable even if you made only part of the payment (a deposit, say) on your card. And this part-payment can be as little as £1 (but no more than £25,000)."Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
