Hi,
Apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum-please feel free to move!
We are moving out of our rented accommodation in london to a place in norwich. We have to be out on saturday and todays is oh's day off,he has hired a van today and is on his way with a full van.
We had asked our landlord if we could buy the mattress from him( he bought it new when we moved in last year and is a really good one).
He has only got back to us now to tell us the mattress for the new tenants will arrive on friday. However OH has now gone with the van and there was no room anyway.
Has anyone any ideas or recommendations on how we can transport it as cheaply as possible please?
This moving malarkey is expensive and stressful isnt it!

hi toots,
thanks for replying!
Unfortunately we dont have anyone that can help,OH's friend has taken day off today to help and there isnt a car big enough.
OH doesnt want to have to rent van again and drive all way up and back before friday-we were hoping to get a recommendation for a courier service that deals with large items?[strike]Loan 1 = £5912.91 - 26 payments left @ £227.33[/strike] £3413.91- 15 payments left

hmmm that might cost just as much as the mattress did.
it might be just cheaper to rent the van again.Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
Not sure if this is any help but when we moved from London we used these guys (The Move Team) and they were great (and cheap). It says they do light removals too so it might be worth seeing how much it'd be for them to take the mattress.0

Friend or family member with a hatchback/fastback car? - mattreses can kind of roll up and be tied around with string to stop it coming unfurled. As long as it is a medium sized car or bigger then it will take a double.
Otherwise it will be hiring a van.
Sorry Toots, but you should NEVER roll a mattress that contains springs. Otherwise by the time you get to your destination you might as well just take it to the dump.0 -
Look in the local paper for a Man and Van service.0
