Travel Insurance - Internal flight cover

I'm taking a family holiday in SE Asia in summer. I have booked return flights to and from Malaysia from within the UK and understand policies cover for this. My problem is I have used a low cost airline to book internal flights but no-one seems to be prepared to cover these flights. Can anyone advise? I've done this before and been OK but realise that any luggage lost by the internal carriers, delays, extra flight costs due to cancellation, unforeseen hotel bills etc would be uninsured. Does anyone offer a policy that would cover for this?

If you have a take out a travel policy which covers you from the time you leave the uk until the time you return to the uk it will include cover for internal flights providing they are with an airline0

I should have added all these flights were booked directly with the airline in Malaysia on the web.
Unfortunately my experience has been that three insurance companies have said they will not provide cover, and a broker has said that cover for internal flights booked outside the UK is almost impossible to find. All the flights are scheduled point to point flights with either Air Asia or Malaysia Airlines, both reputable carriers. Has anyone managed to get cover for this situation? Thanks0 -
A normal travel policy includes cover for flights whether you book them in this country or abroad. For instance when people go travelling around Australia etc they often decide to take an internal flight that they book there and then to fly accros Australia.
Who is the travel insurance with and which broker are you with as I think they are advising you incorrectly.0 -
It's usually domestic flights *within* the UK which are excluded from cover, for some reason. From what I've seen, *any* non-UK flights are usually covered.0
