Has anyone actually tried distilling malt vinegar? Morrisons do a huge plastic bottle of the stuff for around £2. And I can't find any distilled vinegar in large quantities.Good, clean fun....MFW #11 2015 £7657 / £88800

Chinese/Indian supermarkets are very cheap for white vinegar if there are any near you. About £2 for 5 litres.0

This wikipedia article (2nd item down) says that white vinegar is not made by distilling brown.

For a bet I'd be inclined to think that trying to distill vinegar would be a rather hazardous enterprise.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I made my first lot of pickled onions this year and even though they came out beautiful and am planning to do a huge batch this year be warned if you are heating vinegar..ventilate the house well..doors windows wide open,a gas mask would help and be prepared for your nasal passages to melt!!
That said it was worth the effort!

I'm a bit confused about this too - I've only ever seen Sarsons clear vinegar in Tesco although I think it still says it's a malt - is this the right stuff?
Thanks0 -
I was stood in tescos the other day pondering the same thing in*the*red so I asked at the csd and they said yes the clear vinegar (distilled malt vinegar) was white vinegar...they said it was good on windows and stuff and I said I wanted it for cleaning my dishwasher and towels.Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!:starmod: Emergency Fund Savings - #148 - £10/£1000 1% :starmod::xmastree:#083 SPC6 £63 - SPC7 £90 - SPC8 £63 - SPC9 £54 - SPC10 £26 - SPC12 £70 :xmastree:0
