Covering broken bathroom tiles

About 4 years ago I had a new bathroom suite professionally installed, and this included the tiling of the entire bathroom in lovely bumpy 10 x 8 tiles - three feet off the ground are bumpy blue, then there is one course of patterned, then the rest up to the ceiling are bumpy white. A couple of months ago I decided to try and fit a new ladder style chrome radiator in the bathroom and, although the rad fitted okay, I found that behind the old radiator had never been tiled and I managed to crack about another 8 of the blue tiles when getting the old rad off! I have tried everywhere to get replacement tiles and it seems that they aren't made any more, so I can either tile using different tiles which would look awful or get the whole bathroom tiled again (too dear), but I had another thought. I may be dreaming but I think I saw on a makeover programme fitting mock T&G over old tiles. It came in long pieces a bit like plasterboard and they just stuck it on with tile adhesive over the tiles and then put a piece of beading on the top, sealed it all properly all round and then painted it and then varnished over the paint. I think this might look nice but don't know where I would get such and thing and when I looked in B&Q I couldn't see it. Anyone know if it exists and whether it would be possible to do? Any advice gratefully received!!!

The stuff you mean is probably MDF. You could probably get away with just redoing the area immediately behind/around the new towel rad and making a feature of it. Possibly it could be glued in place, if not then you could use battens and screws. If you can't get the MDF then you could use real T&G. Just be sure it is really dry before you fit it or it could shrink and leave open joins.
