just to put my two pennies worth in ... i totally agree with the OP if what he is saying is true than in no way di tesco security have the right to stop him.. for the security to have any rights on stopping him they would have to see him aproach the item ,conceal it and then leave the store without paying. as they could not have seen any of this and only went on the word of a third party then they were wrong. i was stopped in m and s a few years ago and was told by a security to open my bag. i refused as i did not take anything. i made a fuss and then the manager was called he also asked me to open my bags when i refused and told him to call the police he then asked me to sortthe matter out in the office. i was not willing to go in the office with him as there would be no witneses. eventually i got fed up with the whole thing and emptied my bags over the floor. there was noting stolen in my bag. i then wrote to m and s and was awarded comp. my point is if your not guilty then make a fuss. too many of these security are rubbish at there job. and its not nice being accused of theft. OP i suggest you write up to tesco and complain... by the way im an ex store tec..

Hi new to forum can anyone help me mum ??

Sunday morning my mum visits Tesco , when she arrives inside she removes her scarf as its hot inside the store , the scarf goes inside her carrier bag , unknown to her the camera operator thinks she has put some garment in here bag , mum continues to browse some clothing , 30 min later she buys here sunday papers and milk , after paying she is aproached by security girl and told to follow here , mum asked what it was about , reply was just follow ME ! made to walk from front of store all the way to back store to small office , during which time security made a call for duty manager to meet. Duty manager comes into office just as the security officer was asking mum if she know why she was detained , No idear , You have been seen putting some thing in your bag was the reply , Mum said yes it was Hot instore so i put my scarf in my bag , Duty manager shrugged (embarrised) and walked straight back out without saying anything. Security officer then leaned over looked at recording and within 1 min pressed the exit door within the office and said You can leave this way. They did not even check her bags at anytime and did not appoligise , she was shown out the back of the store to find her own way back to the front car park . When we phoned the store to compain about the way they treated Mum the head of security said the guard did appoligise and when i spoke to the duty Manager at the store I was blown to find they are the same person security manager during the day and duty manager at night .............. Any help to force Tesco to confirm they got it wrong and treated a Mum as a Criminal rather then a Custmer before it happens to someone else.

its a difficult one as stores have the right to protect their property! an apology should have been made though and your mum escorted to the front entrance. obviously not by security as that would have looked as if she got chucked out!
complain to tesco head office that after investigation your mum was still treated like a criminal (I would) but to be honest - I dont think mum has any legal comeback here.

I know this is an old thread that's been resurrected, but still... what an utter berk you are. You brought all the trouble on yourself. "A barrage of staff told you to "just show the receipt", and that's what you should've done, you awkward, stupid, timewasting moron. You should have been banned anyway for being such a pain in the !!!!.

Is it just coincidental that your spelling mistakes and lack of paragraphs are almost identical to the OP? ;)
