  • Have you ever considered the possibility that "people boasting over the internet about how to get rich quick" might be lying scammers?

Mrs Tine, I think you are having us on, maybe not, but I suspect so.

There may indeed be two structures like yours, but I think you have just found a picture and are pretending that you own it ?

The reason i question you is that I bought a very similar landmark when I last visited Paris, it needed a coat of paint and the seller advised that for the purchase price, I would indeed own it, and it could stay where it was and I didnt need to transport it home. They would even paint it and I could come and look at it anytime, day or night, for no charge.

The thing that attracted me to it was that it looks like a modern day pyramid and I just cant get enough of them. I will get my money back ..............one day.

Please dont respond with your normal wit and sarcasm, I have looked into the matter thoroughly.
  • The thing with the traditional pyramid scheme is that the people at the top DO make a lot of money. The lower down you go, the less you make, and you don't have to go many levels before you start losing money. It's simple maths - 1 person recruits 10 other, each of those 10 recruits 10 others, each of those 10 recruit 10 others ..... You don't have to go many levels before you need more people than exist in the world :-) Ah, the joys of exponential growth .....
  • I joined a local scheme a few years ago because loads of people I know where in it and they made a few thousand pounds each, this is because they joined when the scheme was new and they moved to the top really quickly. When I joined though, it became more and more difficult to find people to join and the whole thing collapsed leaving me £500 out of pocket. I wouldn't touch anything like this again because you just don't know when it's all going to end. I have now written it off as a lesson learned but at the time I was very bitter and angry about the whole thing.
  • Yeah it was a legitimate question. In fact it was network marketing, also mentioned above that I had in mind. It wasn't termed as a pyramid scheme that was just my interpretation of it. The scheme I got involved with was one where you by a domain name through an American company, (I needed the domain name for a site anyway, so would have had to pay someone some money) Instead of paying a one off fee, I paid £7 a month. Can't even remember what the prefix was, but instead of .com or .co.uk it was let’s say for example .rex. The idea was that if other people registered their domain as a .rex as well, but did it through my recommendation, the company selling the .rex domain would reward me, suffice to say that the website didn’t take off and as its primary goal was NOT to purely recommend a .rex account so no one joined off of my recommendation to make it worth my while. So I gave up.
Also, FYI my dissertation was on a completely unrelated topic in the end. I chose to delve into the world of 'Dyson' proved to be a good choice, very interesting company!!

pyramid selling in the uk is illegal. People confuse this with networkmarketing/mlm.
There is no such thing as get rich quick schemes without them being a rip off, most mlm/networking takes time and effort.
In simplistic terms Pyramid selling is where i would start off with a kettle and sell it on for £1, (i bought it for 50p), the next person sells it on for £1.50 and so it goes on, leaving some poor person having bought the kettle for £10 and not being able to sell it on.Everyone underneath have made their money, but not the person left with one expensive kettle. This is just an example.
If you think about it everything is a pyramid. Think of Tesco, you start off with the general assistants, then supervisors, then managers, then directors, then the big wigs at the top. The general assistants get not a lot of pay, but the directors and big wigs at the top are laughing all the way to the bank so to speak, and quite often its the lower ranks who work the hardest. If things are built in a pyramid then as long as the money goes to the top and then down again thats great.
But if anyone wants to buy a pyramid there's some in Egypt, probably with a camel or two thrown in :rotfl:
I get paid to smell great :j

Are you looking at pyramid schemes (illegal) or MLM (legal) for the dissertation? Don't you think your first bit of research ought to be in finding out the difference between the two?
