Well, i'm sorry coz I lack knowledge of these things. But, I don't think there are any thermostatic valves on the radiator. There's a big clock like thing attached on the side wall,& i dunno what it's really meant for. It keeps ticking, has hours from 0-24 etc. I may sound stupid, but I'm really not aware of these things. Also, I could not find a drain valve on my boiler. Are all supposed to have one?
BTW; the system's been running smoothly for the past 0430 hours and I hope it continues thru' the nite.
Thanks

Hi Terry, the clock thing is just that, a timer to run your heating with. If it is a simple 24 hour timer then it sounds like you may have a combi boiler. You can set the timer to turn on the heating maybe an hour before you get up in the morning, then to go off when you all go out for the day (if you do). Then you can set it to come on in the evening when it starts to get chilly, then to go off say 1 hour before you go to bed. You should not need it on during the night.
You will need to decide your own times, but we have as follows:
6.30 am heating comes on, 7.30am OH gets up, 8.15 am OH goes to work, 9am heating goes off. ( I am here all day and put the heating on again if I need to.)
5pm heating comes on, 5.30pm OH comes home, 10pm heating goes off, 11.30pm we go to bed.
You will need to adjust times to suit your life and how long your house takes to warm up/cool down.
We have a very well insulated house so it stays warm for a good while after the heating goes off.
You really should get TRVs on most of your radiators as this will let you control the temperature in each room much better.
Do you have a friend with a similar system who could help you work out how it all works?0
