Moving a water meter

Does anyone know if it'll be an expensive job to move a water meter about 6 feet on the same wall so that it will be in a cupboard that already houses the boiler and electricity meter?
I know I'll need to get the water company to assess it but don't know if they actually carry out the work. I've not moved into the house as we're still in the process of buying it.
