If you could have 2 home made gifts .......

As the title above, all year round we work hard to come up with beautiful gifts for other people, all of which hopefully are appreciated, wether it be hampers with millions of gifts in, or the simple sock monkey/journal jar or even snowman soup.
Well this morning I got thinking (as I was making my first ever journal in a jar) We put all of this time and effort to be MSE and make lovely gifts for a fraction of the price and yet we never make anything for ourselves, soooooooo the question is
If you could choose 2 home made gifts then what would you chose?
Please feel free to give pictures and links to your answers

I like personalised hampers (not even necessarily themed but stuff that shows the person knows me) - nothing better than getting a gift of prawn crackers and strawberry bubble bath!
Also homemade food items like cookies or a cake go down well with me!0 -
Home made truffles or a big jar of home made lemon curd, with a big spoon - yum!
(PS. I see you've been on here a long time rusty, but its the first time I've ever come across your name, and I can't stop laughing, ouch, me sides are hurting!!!)I'm a nutter :j0 -
What a great question Rusty!
I love my neighbours homemade lemon curd so a large jar of that would be lovely and then number 2 is anything that someone has taken the time and effort to make for me as nobody I know ever makes me anything (with the exception of you lovelies on here of course
). If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Skintandsad thankyou
several people complained about my name and admin asked me to change it ... I refused and they gave up and moved on :rotfl:
Rainmac I was just curious more than anything as I know you and a few others have always said it is so lovely to recieve home made gifts yet never do.
I haven't answered the question as I can't decide so I am still thinking about it

Mine would probably have to be -
1. Traditional food hamper with lots of different sorts of more unusual jams, pickles, cakes and biscuits.
2. Craft hamper-
*ready framed small longstitch kit
*3d xstitching kit e.g. a little house
*a kit to make a stitched card that's 3d or a magazine/book about it (the type where it's a printed card and you stitch a washing line of clothes on material then cut it out and stick onto the card)
*plastic canvas kit
* metal painting kit
This is a good question to ask.0 -
For me, anything that someone has put the time and thought into making is fine.............my youngest son, being a bit 'arty' normally sends me a picture he's done (in fact I'm a bit disappointed on the occassions he hasn't!) -the other has in the past done a compilation of music -mothers day was all sorts of music about mum or had mum in the title. Now he's got a computer he does stuff on DVD's for me so I get the background music and the piccys to go with it of him and grandchildren.Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

I can't really answer as such either Rusty but like rainmac and Mary just anything homemade.
As you know my DD bought back from her travels a coconut bracelet that she made for me, she also bought back a shell bracelet that she didn't make, now whilst the shell bracelet in some eyes is probably prettier the coconut bracelet to me just means the world, she made it and it was especially for me. I know which one I'll be wearing the most;)
Edit: Sorry it sounded like I was ungrateful for the shell bracelet which I'm definately not, it's a lovely present and it's beautiful too but you know what I mean when I say that the coconut one to me seems just extra special.0 -
I would love someone (anyone!) to make me a food hamper and to put a lot of thought to it!
I make them for gifts and also have to make them as part of my job, I love doing it and often think........ooh I wish this was for me!
nearest I'll probably get is putting my messages in a cardboard box!0 -
Great thread rusty :T
As with most others, anything handmade just for me would be lovely. I guess it's because we all know how much effort goes nto that type of gift
If I had to narrow it down, I guess a personalised sock monkey/monster would be one. I'd have to say a hamper as well, because it's like getting lots of presents in one (is that greedy? lol) xsome people grin and bear it, others smile and do it

I would love some homemade sweet treats as I crave chocolate constantly but am rubbish in the kitchen!
I also really wanted a nappy cake when I was pregnant, I'd settle for a sock monkey though - I'm too busy making them for friends and family to make one for myself.0
