OR Interview in 30 mins.....

eeeeeekkkkkkkkkk. I think I am prepared, I hope I am prepared, am I prepared?! I went BK in November, so there has been a huge delay in having this interview (not on my part - the courts) so I have been worrying about this for months. It cant be that bad can it. Will just be honest, they cant make me feel any worse than I already do about the whole thing anyway. I will let you know how it goes for anyone else that is waiting for theirs.

Good luck - it won't be that bad - its the build up thats worse. Let us know how you got on! :)
;) You tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is 'never try';)
  • Good Luck Louise,

Get a drink ready, glass of water, cup of tea .. nothing alcoholic!
Make sure you have your court forms in front of you in case you need to check anything.
Make yourself as comfy as possible.
Take deep breaths, relax... and let them do most of the talking.
Don't worry about the silences, they are writing things down.
Tell us all about it afterwards?

  • Ok done it. he rang 10.36 and i was off the phone 11.46. I feel exhausted from it. I got emotional half way through but apart from that managed to get through it. He starts by aksing you to confirm your name, address etc is correct on section 1 on your forms. Then he goes onto your assests, so asks about any cars you may have their worth, what you paid for them, what you use them for. Then will go onto your property, same kind of questions - be warned if you have remortgaged a few times you need to know the amount you got from each remortgage and what you used it on - i was just as honest as memory would manage. Then he asks if you have any other assests, then goes onto your secured debts - date incurred, what you used the money for. Who they are joint with. He took my husbands name down as he will be going BK soon, and said he would get the same OR as i have just had so he can link them. Then he goes onto the unsecured - what you used them for (I found it so hard to say I bought clothes, christmas presents etc) by this point I was a bit of a wreck and said to him " you are putting this all into your computer and its showing i should have known i was insolvent arent you" and burst into tears (poor guy) was getting completely paranoid. Then I went on to go on about all the things I had done to try and avoid this, how I have worked my self into the ground working 7 days a week, and i never thought this would happen etc. He at that point said that he didnt think that was the case and he could see that at the time i would have had the money to pay, he wasnt symphathetic but he did emphathise with me that it must have been hard. I wasnt expecting this from this interview and it was such a relief just to know this man didnt think i was a bad person. After that he asked about IPA's that he would send me a questionnaire to complete in regards to how much i will pay out monthly. he asked if i had any questions at the end and i brought up that i had got a letter from the tax people to say i wouldnt be paying tax up to april. He told me that they had stopped asking for this, so close to a tax year. but if i did recieve anything i would need to send it on to them. That was it really. Its in depth, and its difficult not to get worked up about what they are thinking, as they dont "chat" they ask questions and you respond - its odd situation giving out so much personal information to someone you cant see their face. For those who are waiting for their interviews, do make sure you are prepared and have your court papers in front of you. Have some tissues ready incase you get upset - but it wont be because the OR is being mean, its just its a hard thing to do, and a lot of your feelings that you will have been feeling along this journey will surface - well they did for me. I will let you all know what happens next, but good luck to you all x
  • Oh ps - he never asked the question "what do you think caused your BK" i think they make their own minds up from what you talk about some of them.
