Car Insurance for Girls

I paid an extorniate 800 quid for the first year of insurance on my car with Tesco. Then for the past two years I have been with Young Lady Driver.

If you are female and under 30 definitely give these guys a call as they halved my premium.
Now with three years no claims, norwich union seem to be my best bet at 250 quid!

What a great site, my 17 year old daughter takes her test next month so I will be looking for the best deal for her. Just did a test quote using my 18 year old son's car details for comparison and it was really good compared to what he has to pay.
Anyone ever used them and had a claim, that's the real test of value in my opinion.0 -
our daughter ... 19 and in her 2nd year of driving ... put her exact details through the "youngladydriver" site ... came out at £1350 a year .. which was the top end of quotes we had this year ... before taking the best deal...ensleigh at £8250

I suppose it depends on the car, i have a 1.3 Fiesta which in my 2nd yr of driving, i paid £350 with YLD.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I'm about to do my test (aagh!) and I'm 26. My boyfriend has been driving for the last 20 years and we're trying to decide whether I should take out my own policy and have him as a named driver, which would prob cost me £500-600, or go on his insurance, which would cost £150-200.
What's the best thing to do? Am I right in thinking I won't be able to earn a no claims bonus if I go on my boyfriend's because it's in his policy?
Please help, not sure what the best option is

Leprachaun, if your BF move his policy to Direct line, and put you as a name driver, you will earn NCD as a name driver with Direct line. Have to call them up and see how much it will cost him, to see if it worth doing so or not.
But forgetting Direct line, if you not going to drive much, than going by your age maybe worth wait until you are 30 than get your own policy. Since by than you will have driving experience, some insurance will match husband / bf NCD on new policy and reach 30. From my own experience and from other sites, it seem they have these age brackets. 17, 21, 25, 30, 50, 70. At those intervals your premium will change due to stats. Just like if you are married / single / divorce.0
