We are trying to transfer the deeds of our parents house into our name so that we may re-mortgage to get on the property ladder. Parent are happy to do this, but how do we go about transferring the deeds? We are going to see a solicitor but just want to understand the process before if possible.

Do you mean that your parents are giving you their house?...............................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0

I would be a bit careful about that, as the inland revenue may see this as a gift in kind (and considering that they are having tax raising issues presently, are looking into this type of thing).
The property would not be "yours" as such. and a 7 year rule applies before it could become legally yours. That may also give issues with getting a mortgage/remortgage.
 I would definitely consult a Solicitor, one who specialises in Tax/property law.6.75kwp (15 * 450W) SSE facing
