Extra car insurance

For new cars, you can buy a secondary insurance policy that will pay out the shortfall between what your normal insurer pays and the real cost of replacing your car - gap insurance, its called. But try as I might, I cant find an equivalent policy for older cars. I've got a car that I've spent far more on than its worth and its insurer will only pay (like them all) what the car is worth, not what it would cost me to replace it. I'm quite happy to pay an additional premium over and above its normal insurance, but I cant find someone to pay that additional premium to!

I do not know of any company that do this and doubt there is at would be difficult to value the car with the extra items.
However if there is any one that does offer this type of cover they are likely to advertise if modifying magazines like Max Power etc so have a look in the adverts.0 -

Apologies for reviving a long-dead post.
mystic Slipp was unfortunately wrong on this occasion, because not only do I not work for 'dubious GAP firm for older cars', but I didn't find one either. I'd still be interested if anyone does have a link to a suitable company...0
