A question

Options
Im only a newbie so forgive me if im not making much sense.

When i turned 18 i took a loan out with HSBC, which i repaid early.
When sorting out my paperwork, i noticed i took PPI out on the loan- which i remember something about Insurance being talked about but not actually agreeing.
Is it worth me writing to HSBC as when i took the Insurance out i was not in a fixed contract of employment ( i had no contract i worked as a waitress and never signed anything and also when i took holiday from my job i didnt get paid) and dont you have to be?
And also i never remembered agreeing to anything and i repaid the loan early and i think it was Insurance you pay up front?

Advice much appreciated!

    Hi there

What year did you take out the loan?
Have you the agreement for this still?

However there is no harm in trying to reclaim on this with your reasons and also check out the link here as well which gives further info and there is a template reclaim letter as well:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

Try to use your own words though and they have 8 weeks to respond in full.

Let us know the outcome of this in case further steps need to be taken, such as another letter if not successful first time round, post by recorded delivery, good luck.

  • Took it out in 2005.
I have just composed a letter (although my letter writing skills leave a lot to be desired) to ask for the original agreement.
But do u think they are valid reasons to question it? I am a little wiser now than i was at 18 and am sure you have to be in a fixed permenant contract to be even eligible.
Also where do i find if HSBC have ever been i dont know what the word is but should i say 'challenged' about it?

thank for your help i will keep you posted.

    Hi there

You should be fine, also double check on the link I posted above as well in case there are any other reasons.

I think being as young as 18, its a vulnerable age.;)

I look forward to hearing the outcome in this and if you need further help, let us know. Cheers.:D ;)
