The website made a mistake on my very first attempt (I tried a simple known route just to test it out). The tube result failed to mention a change, so anyone following the route who didn't already know the workings of the tube, would end up missing a stop before realising. Then they'd have to turn around and go back to make the change, making their journey longer. Plus it failed to give options (i.e. the suggested tube route is one of 3 that each take about the same length of time, so it depends what time of day you are leaving as to which is quickest).
Any searches using 'London Address' completely failed to work, yielding 'error on page' on my browser.
The visual route map is better than the tfl version but that seems to be the only advantage.0 -
I didn't get any errors on 2 journeys I check. However it does lack the time of day function, but I guess its a start.
Listening to other posters I can say that on one of the journeys I checked it gave correct unlike TFL which always tells me to either walk to a further away bus stop or tells me to get on a bus then get off it half way and transfer to another bus, even though that bus stops at the destination. You would think TFL after all these years would have sorted out their bugs. Sometimes I search a route on there and it sends me by 2 tubes and 2 trains (taking me into zone 2 from zone 5) rather than get a bus (which is quicker). I have to amend the searching to bus only.0 -
I wish there was a journey planner website that allowed you to specify which zones you want to avoid. I tried looking up a journey from Canary Wharf to Bromley, which can be easily made with a Zones 2-3 travelcard (DLR to Lewisham, then bus to Bromley.) All the journey planners I've tried take you through Victoria Station, which requires a Zones 1-5 travelcard at twice the price.
I feel exactly the same way Klint. TFL drives me mad for this. I have to get home from Victoria to Catford, (all zones 1-3) and yet it constantly tells me to go to Bromley south which is zone 5 (not sure how you figure bromley's in zone 3?) and I don't have that option on my travelcard. Nearly half the suggested routes follow this plan yet there's no way to switch it off. Very annoying.Debt cleared! [strike]£13,128[/strike] £0!!!

All though TubeJP is perhaps user friendly the good thing about TFL's website is you can see how long it''ll take to get to your local tube station if you tick the walking box as well. Meaning this option allows you to give yourself enough time to get to where your going. It also means you don't have to leave to early before your chosen travel time. Just enter your postcode in the first box then in the second your destination.
TFL is best for me in my opinion.0 -
Have just had a play with it and it is shocking.
Do people not test things before they are posted to hundreds of thousands of people via this website and millions more through email? Does MSE need to make a vacancy for a researcher and tester?
I expect there has been a bung to advertise it. This site until recently used to endorse thetrainline too, I believe.
However - I like the "to scale" tube map superimposed onto google maps on their homepage. Tried a couple of searches and it gave the expected results.0
