Double Glazing in Wimbledon

Hi Can anyone recommend a good company for double glazing in the Wimbledon area? We have Everest coming round to give us a quote next week but I am cautious given their reputation of "bully boy" sales techniques! I am also cautious of small companies given the current economic climate, if they go bust we will lose our warranties and guarantees. Any help/advice greatly received.

Hi - I used to work for Everest for about a year. My personal approach has always been based on no pressure and genuinely giving the best possible deal. I want a win-win. I can confirm that nothing in the industry seems to compare to their quality e.g. 8 locks per window, even small openers. I bought some on the cheap when working for them and I consider it a first class investment. True, they had to come back no less than 8 times to get my front door glass right but although this took time it was eventually done. It amazed me that the glass was often wrong on their production of orders but they just changed it and threw the old (new) glass away. I have no allegiance to Everest but I aso wanted a quality product. As a guide I can tell you that my bungalow, list price (I costed it myself) was £46k. If I were selling these at the time (2 years ago) I could have given a maximum discount overall of around 50%, so £23k. I actually paid half of that but having learnt a lot about windows while I was there I personally would pay the extra. Especially as I have seen and had myself some of the cheap tat available.
The reason for some 'bully boys' is that they seem to take on anyone as they are not employed by them but are self employed. They have something like 700 nationwide. Should a bullyboy come round then show him the door!0 -
The only firm I know are in Tooting. They have done two members of my families houses but the last one was done about 11 years ago. (With no problems) They are called Stormplan replacement windows and they are based 270 Mitcham Road. You can look them up in the yellow pages.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
