Carpeting stairs and landing

We want to carpet our stairs and upstairs hallway/landing..(we have laminate floring all downstairs btw)

It's not a grand stairway..average width etc with a turning nr top stairs....as you can tell I have no idea to measure it...

So...anyone have any tips on how to judge/measure for carpet for this are?? and what a reasonable quote would be for capet and fitting?

Thanks :D

  • For measuring the amount of carpet, look here

Fitting is a tricky job see here

Sorry - can't help with the price, though

Can't help with the prices but Carpetright charge extra £25 for fitting stairs carpet. That's on top of general fitting charge.

I think they measure number of stairs and the width etc.

    Thank you both!! :)

I should be able to figure out the cost once we've chosen the carpet ;)
  • We had similar done recently in a decent carpet, cost was £380 with new underlay. Fitting stair carpets is very expensive compared to regular rooms. We did the underlay ourselves but we did get a good carpet costing £13 .50 per sq. m., so it should last ages.
  • Just had a quote for the same thing from a carpet fitter 17sq m of carpet @£2.25/meter, plus £25 for stairs plus if you want the bottom step swen rather than staples £15 total £75
