  • Ignore the last bit of that last post - sorted now. Although the proper recycle looked like it was empty I noticed it gave me the option to empty it, and having done that it cleared out the recycler folder and now deleted items are going to the right place again. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me - much appreciated.

This bits upto you (But its what id advise)

AVG is very poor these days as its defiintion files are always behind the leaders

Use the AVG 32bit UNINSTALL TOOL
    http://www.avg.com/download-tools

    reboot

Download AVIRA ANTI VIRUS PERSONAL (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_antivir/

Insert your USB drives, update and scan everything to be sure

Have followed your advice and switched to Avira. Scanned all usb sticks and the hard drive and everything seems to be clear. Thanks again for the advice.
  • We need to remove the Flash Drive infector
    1. Please download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs and save it to your desktop.
    2. Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
    3. The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
    4. Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
    5. Reboot your computer when done.
Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden file named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder. It will help protect your drives from future infection.
