Ceiling problems

Hi

Had problems with upstairs shower leaking down to the kitchen ceiling below. Shower fixed no leaks but the ceiling is a mess. The ceiling has cracked and a few bubbles have appeared on the ceiling after sanding the bubbles the original paint has come away leaving the area uneven. I do not wish to replaster is there any advice antone can give

    If its had a lot of damage there probably isn't a lot of choice. Is it plasterboard or lathe and plaster?

    Have you tried to fill it with filler? providing its not very big you might be able to get away with it. Also if your ceiling has turned a off browny/yellow colour then i found that painting that area with oil paint and then your normal paint hides away the colour.

    What about papering the ceiling with a blown vinyl paper.

    We did that on a rough ceiling in a bedroom. with good success.
    I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

    I had this happen. Repaired the ceiling with polyfilla and sanded smooth then painted the brown bits with 'Stain Stop' and overpainted with emulsion. Worked a treat.
