Joining Vinyl Flooring

Options
I have bought some Armstrong Rhinofloor and the instructions on the website say that you can use a "chemical vinyl sealant fluid" to weld the seams where the vinyl needs to be joined. I have searched the web without luck for such a product - the only option seems to be to hire a heat gun to literaly weld the pieces together.

Can anyone suggest a suitable product - and possibly a good supplier?

TIA - Dave

  • All I can suggest in a domestic environment is to overlap the 2 vinyl pieces together, then make a cut in the middle of them both. you can then adhere the edges of the two pieces with a Vinyl Spray Glue (Do not use Carpet spray adhesive). If the vinyl is patterned, ensure the pattern is matched first!

This would not create a waterproof join, however. Commercial vinyl flooring can be seamed with a flooring 'weld-gun' and a coil of welding strip, however this creates a 'seam' between the two pieces of around 1cm, and nt suitable for use with domestic vinyls!
