Pathetic CAA/ATOL

Just spoke to CEGA for the 5th week in a row to get a status update regarding my XL claim and apparently there is some information missing, and my claim can not be processed without it. Then i am informed that they have not had authorisation from head office yet to pay claims that were part flight, part accomodation and this would take another 2 weeks. Intotal i have been waiting 17 weeks for a refund now.

I have emailed watchdog about this and suggest anyone else who is being ripped off while the CAA gain interest on our money follow this link

I appreciate that the length of delay is unforgivable. They can't cope with the scale of XL going bust.

But how on earth are they ripping you off? They don't have your money, XL have your money, so the CAA are not earning interest on it. Your claim is being paid by a fund they set up to cover any company going under. They will pay your claim, you will get your money back. Eventually. It's not a rip-off. It's just a public corporation not being able to deal with number of bookings it need to investigate. Do you think they are sitting on your money thinking 'wow we'll make another 10 pence interest if we delay this repayment for another month or two??'.
