Motor Insurance - points on licence

I received 3 points and a £60 fine on 06 May 2006 for a SP30 speeding offence - 83mph in a 70 zone.
Does anyone know the answers to the following?
1. How long do the points remain on your licence or is it a lifetime?
2. How do you get points removed if they do not remain for a lifetime?
3. How long is it before motor insurers ignore these points?
I apologise for questin but don't have a clue where to start looking for answers.
Thanks in advance for any help

1) Points remain for different periods depending on the crime. Yours stay on for 4 years from the date of the offence.
2) Pay for a new clean licence.
3) 5 years usually0 -

my partner had 3 points removed an sp30 , not so long ago you can have them removed 4 yrs after date of offence (depending on offence) i think its about £17.50 to have them removed but not sure£2 savers club -- £2 (£60 banked)/ 20p savers club -- 20p (£12 banked) started 13/03/2008 :j 5p/2p/1p/ -£5.10
onepoll £11.40 / you gov £1 / pigsback £1.25 / cashback £5.020 -
if you change address (or otherwise need a new licence) then there's no charge for having them removed!Indecision is the key to flexibility0

i think that you're still meant to tell the insurer about them up to 5 years though, even if they aren't still printed on the license
otherwise it would be totally unfair on those people who haven't changed their license?0
