Mouse living in the electricity meter box

I went to check the outside electricity meter earlier and found a mouse is living in there. There is a small nest made of grass and twigs. This mouse was hiding up amongst the cables.

Should I get rid of it ? I could leave the door open and it may clear off, but it may find it's way inside the house - I don't want that though.
Could it be a baby rat though ? Do rats make nests like that ?

Can you move it to a more convenient location - away from your house, seems if it is a mouse only 50 ft away from the any housing will do. http://www.victorpest.com/mouse_rat_species.htm

It is best to get it out of the electricity box as they can gnaw cables and breed every 40+ days ... http://diypcs.co.uk/mice.htm

i'd charge it rent if i were you...and tell it that whilst it's living under your roof it will have to abide by your rules :D :rotfl:

on a more serious note, your local environmental health department may be able to advise you on the best course of action to take.

and once you have got rid of your lodger, make sure you block up whatever hole he used to get into the meter box in the first place, to prevent any of his mousey friends moving in
