End of month/end of year targets for EA

So, what's the deal with targets for EAs? Do they tend to have monthy targets, or quarterly, annual? When does their "year" end? Guess it could vary.

My thought would be to casually/jokingly say something along the lines of "if you can persuade the vendor to accept my [low] offer that it'll be one in the bag for February!" Ho ho ho.

A lower than expected sale is better than no sale.

  • I think most of them work on commision. I can't imagine nows the right time to be making jokey comments if your wanting them to convince a buyer to drop by a few grand.

I'd be more likely to play hardball with them and show exactly how serious you are about keeping your offers low.

As a seller, the low offers do amuse me, as I certainly don't take them seriously!
Most people are working too hard to make really decent money:eek:

  • Like any salesmen/women if they can make a sale they would be stupid not to. At the end of the day its always the vendors call, personally id have no issues with befriending any sales person if it meant it would benefit me likewise im sure any salesperson would love to befriend a buyer if it benefits them

That last line is important. ;-D

You wouldn't want to be too choosy. Prices are going down like a stone. What you think is a low offer this year will be an amazing offer next year

But thats just your opinion based on what little knowledge you have and can in no way be used for the whole of the u.k's housing market.

Dont get me wrong, you may be proven right, but its all speculative, prices have steadied a lot and even increased a little in some areas, blip or sign of things to come?

    Who knows...............

    .
Even the Estate Agency national body says prices are going to go down at least another 10%. More impartial observers say they'll fall alot more. It isn't my opinion at all.

Where in the UK are prices rising by the way? This is radical news, if true
  • The halifax reported a 1.9% increase in house prices in jan 09, first increase in a good while, blip maybe but who knows.
As for the national body saying that prices will drop at least 10%, well wow, thats the real radical news because ill want their contact details to ask next saturdays lottery numbers!

Don't worry, I'm fully aware of what's happening in the property markets(see my post about a year ago regarding house prices). I'm talking about silly offers, not realistic offers like yours. There's chin rubbing offers, then there's fall off your chair in fits of manic laughter offers. I've been around long enough to detect a sensible offer and one where the EA is getting a back hander.
