353 Imperial units = approx 10943kwh, over four months is about 90 kwh a day.

I live in a Victorian house. My last house was Victorian. They're poorly insulated - I love them so put up with that, but you will use more gas. 90kwh a day at this time of year seems more than possible.

Elec 1367kwh in three months = about 15kwh a day. Again, high for two people. We're a family of six using about the same, but we've cut back. There are a lot of small households (1-4 people) who use this. Usually tumble drier, plasma TV, halogen spotlights, heater or something else producing heat is responsible. Or lots of medium use things (PS3, computer on 24/7, fish tanks etc) all adding up.

So you think that both bills are correct?

We have one small plasma tv in the lounge and a laptop but dont have a tumble dryer/ fish tank/ computer/ games consoles/ heaters or anything like that. We obviously have lights but not halogen ones.

Surely two adults in a two bed flat out of the house 12 hours a day cant use the same amount as you do?

No, I don't. Have you noticed the temperatures, recently? £3.30 per day sounds cheap for a victorian flat, particularly if you were unaware of the costs and weren't being especially careful. That is way below the national average.

(Okay, £4.50 per day. Still below average.)

    Dear god

I thought i was aware of the costs and had budgeted the same as i paid for a 4 bed victorian house i shared with 3 other adults which was £60 combined. I never expected to pay £200 a month for gas and electric. Just as well i only have 2 months left here... i'll be bankrupt by the time i leave.

You wouldn't think so, would you but there's a couple here who do:

There are others. I run the washing machine and dishwasher every day but we have A rated appliances, no plasma TV or PS3, energy saving bulbs, laptops not PC etc. In other words, we have a lot of appliances and gadgets but they're either carbon-gorgeous or used carefully!

But you moved in November - if you'd moved in March, you'd have built up credit over the summer when you were using less. In other words, your monthly payments would have been less than £200 over the year - not £60 though, I bet. Prices have jumped since then.
