Cooker and shower connected by same fuse?

hi i am in a rented property and bro in law went to fit new cooker and he would not connect it and said it is illegal because the shower and cooker are both running on same fuse? is this illegal? just in case landlord tries to fob me off!

    fixed appliances must have their own circuit and circuit breaker, If you were to shower whilst the oven was being used the fuse would probably blow.
    Tell your landlord that you have been told the circuits are unsafe, regards...bri
