  • Cheers, you can tell im a little annoyed.

How long does buying a freehold take? They had an offer accepted for that beginning of Feb. Surely all it is pay money... have a document put in your name... thats it!

    Noones giving me any idea!

I've had two experiences of buying a house. One bad, and one good.

The bad one unfortunately sounded a bit like your situation. It got a long way down the line, and then i didn't hear from the sellers (or their solicitors) either. The house was actually a vacant property, so i didn't understand their reluctance to move quickly. Eventually they turned around and said that they didn't want to sell, so it all fell through.

The good experience went a lot smoother. The searches, and legal stuff was done quite quickly (about 4-6 weeks), and we had completed within 6-8 weeks, which is when i moved in. There was lots of communication with the solicitors and estate agents on both sides, and things just "felt right".

Keep your hopes up for a little while longer. Completion normally takes 6-8 weeks, but they may be stalling for their own reasons (are they moving overseas? has one of them lost a job recently? has someone in their family become ill and they need to look after them? etc...).

    Good luck!!!
