Wembley Controlled Parking Zone - Issues

I parked on a single yellow line on a Sunday in Wembley, I had reluctantly taken the car as both tube lines were out of action.
When I came back – no car – it had been towed!
L B of Brent state that I was in a Controlled Parking Zone. It appears that I missed a single sign about ½ mile away (not in the road that I parked in).
I checked for signs in the road where I parked, there was nothing around the area or as I walked down the road.
One of the grounds that I appealed on was that they had ticketed the car at 10.08 and (by their own photos) were lifting it on to the tow truck at 10.33. However, I had not noted that Martin’s guide mentions that this relates to Pay and Display parking. L B of Brent say they can tow a car immediately it has been ticketed if it is on a yellow line…
I only parked there because I honestly thought that was legitimate on a Sunday.
Would anyone be able to suggest any other appeal grounds? I feel strongly that this is classic revenue generation - £260 that I can ill afford (since been made redundant and now out of work). If this was clearly signed (in Kensington and Chelsea there are signs everywhere warning that you can’t park) I would not have parked there.
All advice greatly appreciated.

Have you posted all the docs you received when you retrieved your vehicle?0

Someone has won a case after being towed from that zone - that road actually.
i recall being surprised because i didn't think they had much of a case? May have been an obscured or missing CPZ entry point sign? (somewhere)
it was on PePiPoo and tag was something like 'tania'.

This looks like the one Neil, I don't have time to look through the whole thread but it had a successful outcome:Someone has won a case after being towed from that zone - that road actually.

The sign is a non prescribed variation of diagram 663 and needs special DfT authorisation for the sign to be considered legal and enforceable.
I advise that you ask the council to confirm what the correct observation period policy is where a PCN is issued under contravention code 01. If they observed your vehicle for less than their policy recommends this may be enough to cancel the PCN.
I also advise you request all hotos and a copy of the CEO's log book to check for any errors such as wrong vrm, location. Any errors will strenghen your position.0 -
Sarahg1969,
Yes, these are the documents that I was given when I retrieved my vehicle - the only thing I haven't posted is the receipt as that is full of private information and nothing else.
Neil G and Crabman,
Thanks for the information about the posting on PePiPoo. I have read through the whole thread. That lady won because Brent council did not submit to PATAS within 28 days. Unfortunately they have submitted in time in my case.
TheBogsDollocks,
Thanks for your posting. I have already done the formal appeal to Brent council, they have sent a Notice of Rejection to that. I have since submitted my appeal to PATAS and received a copy of Brent council's submission to PATAS. In view of this, should I query direct with Brent council or via PATAS?0 -

That doesn't make sense - I'll have to read it.sacherlover wrote: »Thanks for your posting. I have already done the formal appeal to Brent council, they have sent a Notice of Rejection to that. Eh? Not understanding. You have a hearing with PATAS - it gets settled there. Are you saying something new has cropped up in the evidence bundle? If so, then you can request any additional info you need from Brent and a refusal would not help them - BUT - what are we talking about exactly?
